Bride & Groom:
Sarah & Robert
Wedding Date:
15th Oct 2011
Ceremony:
Chevin Country Park Hotel
Reception Venue:
Chevin Country Park Hotel
The Beginning:
We first met on a blind date arranged by our sisters who live next door to each other. Our first date was at Shipley Bowling followed by a curry (accompanied by both sisters and their husbands, my niece, my nephew, my nephew’s friend and my sisters neighbour and her daughter – very romantic) First kiss was a week later when we met up after Rob attended a poker night at his sisters and I was at a curry night at my sisters. The proposal wasn’t romantic, I jokingly asked him on the friday if he was ever going to ask me and and he told me he had planned to ask me when we went to the Lakes the next day. Rob let slip he was going to ask me in a posh restaurant but we ended up in a pub and he eventually asked me when we got back to the hotel we were staying at. The only problem was he has asked the owner of the hotel to recommend a restuarant so she was hopping about the next day dying to ask me if he has asked me or not.
Planning Your Big Day:
We had gone to a wedding at Chevin and liked it and when they had a date I booked it, we initially had wanted September but they could only offer us Oct and I am glad they did. The dress on the other hand was a trauma, I tried on about 30 dresses, and wittled it down to about 8 then I brought my best friends to see them and we settled on the actual dress (I didn’t realise how long the train was until after I had ordered it!) The original colour theme was going to be pale green and ivory but when Rob went to try on the suits he really liked the ivory & claret waistcoat so I had to change the whole theme. I had an idea of the suits I wanted and luckily Rob liked them as well.
The Wedding Day:
I was ok, in fact Mark commented that he had never seen such a chilled out bride on the day, Rob was nervous but was keen to get to the hotel and was there for 10:30 and we weren’t getting married until 2. My preps went well apart from one of the loops on my dress broke! I was on time but my Dad went missing just when we needed him and then I had to wait for the guests to sit down! Rob also had a hiccup as he couldn’t find his shoes so he had to go out and buy some new ones on the morning of the wedding. My Dad did a poem and my husband did a speech despite not liking public speaking, he even had me speechless when he thanked ME for helping him arrange the wedding. We had a lovely wedding breakfast and my husband ate a lot of the evening buffet. Our first dance was to I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
The Honeymoon:
We went to Gran Canaria, we decided to go there as the weather would be good in October. Rob was tasked with booking it but he did check with me a lot before he finally booked it about 2 weeks before the wedding. We went on the Monday after the wedding.
Top tip from the Bride?
Don’t let the stress get to you, take a step back, if its not perfect, no-one but you will know its not how it should have been but your friends and family are there to see you get married and are not bothered if its not perfect and if they are bothered tough!!
Top tip from the Groom?
Don’t leave finding your shoes until the morning of the wedding
Your special memory or moment from the day?
Seeing my wife walk down the aisle & our nieces singing.
Any other thoughts or comments?:
Basically Mark & the guys made the whole photo bit so easy and I hate having my piccie taking but I have to admit I love them!! Booking Mark was the best thing we did! I would highly recommend him to anyone getting married – he doesn’t just take pictures he organises the day and ensures that the bride and groom can relax and enjoy the day.
