Wedding Photographer Yorkshire – 2011 – Bring It On! Second Shooter Opportunity

Well what a year 2010 was! Our busiest year ever and we got to meet some truly fantastic people and visit some stunning venues along the way.

I’d like to start this post by saying “Thank You” to two people:

Paul Brown & Alison Bailey: you two rock!

Last year was a long, hard, tough year for us all, with us working our socks off for our Bride and Grooms. Both of you stepped up to the plate and created some stunning images that will stand the test of time. You go above and beyond the call of duty, always going that extra step to help make the couples big day go as best as it can. It has been an honour to have worked with you over the last year or so and watch you develop in your photography and your business – 2011 is going to be an even better year! Thank you both of you.

It gives me the greatest pleasure to announce that Alison will now be joining the team as a Lead Photographer. Alison has excelled over the last year or so and brings a flair and feminism to her work that many try to copy but many also fail to realise. Alison’s passion for wedding photography is in each and every photograph she takes and I am looking forward to working with her in 2011 and beyond. Welcome to the team Ali B!

As a Yorkshire wedding photographer I am also pleased to announce a few special things for 2011 and 2012. I photographed my first ever wedding in June 1991 so for MPP and myself, 2011 is a pretty special year – 20 years of playing our part in helping Bride and Grooms have the day of their dreams.

To celebrate, we have some special offers for couples who book us to photograph their wedding in 2011 or 2012 – contact us for details.

On our journey we have met some fabulous people at wedding venues, many of whom recommend us to their clients as they are aware of the quality of the work we produce and the affordable prices of our wedding photography. We are recommended by many venues in the Yorkshire and Lancashire region, resulting in over 60 weddings in 2010. 2011 looks as if it will be even busier as we are about to take on two additional wedding venues for the 2011/2012 season.

As a result of this, we are now looking at adding to our team of second shooters. Are you looking at improving your photography business? Do you want to improve your photographic skills? As a second shooter at MPP your role is to assist the Lead Photographer in whatever capacity is required – carrying bags, shooting, assisting, organising and generally helping make the Bride and Grooms day the best day of their lives. The positions are open to everyone, young, old, experienced, just starting out on your photographic career, male or female.

Second Shooter positions start off with a 3 wedding “taster session” to see if you like what we do and if we like what you do. During these 3 weddings, which are unpaid, you will mainly be an observer watching how we work with very limited photographic responsibility. If, after the 3 weddings, you still wish to become a second shooter at MPP you will then, subject to agreement, be offered a 12 month contract, paid a fixed fee per wedding, receive free food and drink whilst working at a wedding and receive ongoing business training for the duration of your contract. You will get a unique insight into why MPP is recommended by so many Bride and Grooms and venues, and why our workload each year means that we have to turn away more and more weddings due to us already being booked and there not being enough hours in the day. In 2010 alone we had to decline more bookings than we actually photographed!

The work though is hard. Not everyone is suitable to be a Second Shooter and only those who are committed, dedicated and determined will succeed. I wrote a Blog post some time ago which put down what I look for in Second Shooters. Have a read of the post here: http://www.markpearsonphotography.co.uk/blog/archives/423

Still interested?

If so, please contact me BY EMAIL ONLY at mark (at) markpearsonphotography.co.uk by 16th January 2011 detailing who you are, where you are, your website address, a brief summary of your equipment and number of years photographing.

If you are successful, you will be invited to the Studio in Leeds for a coffee and a chat and meet the team where full details of the positions will be given.

2011 ……………………. bring it on!

Mark
