Help For Heroes Charity Fund Raising Event - 20-21 March 2010 - Leeds, West Yorkshire
We are pleased to announce the second Help For Heroes fund raising event following on from the event in London in January 2010.
May we start by stating that the aim of the weekend is simple: Raise as much money as we can for the Charity!

This event, which has been registered with the Help For Heroes Charity (Event Registration Number 20100125-8865-7544), is both a training weekend and also a social weekend for both amateur and professional photographers alike. We have tried to structure the weekend so that there is something for everyone regardless of levels of ability or equipment. Partners are more than welcome to attend - why not make a weekend of it in a stunning part of Yorkshire! Even if you have no interest in photography, why not join us for what is going to be the party of the year on Saturday 20th March 2010! Details below.
If you cannot attend the weekend but would like to make a donation however large or small, this may be done via our Help For Heroes JustGiving page at: http://www.justgiving.com/click4heroes or via the JustGiving widget at the bottom of this page.
Tickets may be purchased for any individual event, or you may purchase a weekend Ticket which covers all of the events and offers fantastic value.
The weekend has been split down into two sections, Training & Social as follows:
Saturday 20th March 2010
10.00am - 5.00pm - Working In Natural Light - Seeing The Light.
Spend a whole day training with two of the industry's leading and most respected photographers: Martin Grahame-Dunn and Paul RG Haley.
Martin Grahame-Dunn
In 2010 Martin will celebrate 30 years in the photographic industry having covered many aspects of Professional Photography including Industrial, Commercial, Automotive, Advertising, Fashion, Editorial, Wedding Photography & Portraiture.
Over almost the entire period of his professional career he has been actively engaged in the training of photographers from the four corners of the globe covering every major discipline. A highly respected trainer and judge with many of the world's leading representative bodies and major manufacturers. Martin operated a highly successful high street studio from a 17th century building in Warwick, England drawing clients from all over the world to his distinctive and exclusive style.
Since August of 2002 he has been almost exclusively teaching having designed and delivered specialist "hands on" social photographic training programmes for a variety of leading International Photographic organisations in more than a dozen countries as an extension of his Illuminatus Academy programmes. But Martin is still a Photographer with a mission. A recent return to photographing wedding and portrait related services with an unusual twist, has rekindled his passion for the business. Back at the cutting edge for demanding clients and information hungry students is where he is and wants to be. "Watch this space guys! Honey, I'm home!!!"
Paul Haley
Paul has been taking photographs for over 40 years. A highly respected photographer and trainer/mentor Paul has, in his quiet unflappable way, helped many photographers achieve their qualifications through trade organisations such as the Master Photographers Association. From 1971 to 1987 Paul was a photographer for the Ministry of Defence including 13 years travelling the world as Press photographer for Soldier Magazine. He was one of only 3 civilian photographers to cover the Falklands Conflict in 1982.
In 1987 Paul left the MOD and became a freelance social photographer covering weddings, portraiture, model portfolios plus many other genres. In addition, Paul set up his successful Photographic Imaging Consultancy business which offers both 1-2-1 bespoke photographic training courses and mentoring and also weekend events for groups of photographers.
Paul was awarded his Fellowship from the Master Photographers Association in August 2009.
Paul, who is still an active photographer taking on assignments around the world, will be teaching on how to work with available light. He has a hands on approach where attendees are encouraged to think for themselves resulting in them achieving images they may not necessarily have managed to take in the past.
Attendees will be split into two groups which will rotate so that attendees will work with both Trainers and will have opportunities to take photographs with models.

2.00pm - 4.30pm (Approx) - Sales, Marketing and The Business of Photography.
A brief overview of marketing, picking out the key aspects critical to small business with the aim to clarify and simplify marketing, cut through the jargon get to the meat - Sean O'Brien
"I have always been active in sales and over the years have studied marketing from a small businesses perspective, I am born into a family with many entrepreneurs and have enjoyed the advantage of open debate covering most topics involving socio economic interaction (cause and effect) I am currently a Director of Fridgetech UK Limited and a new fledgling business called Blue Mango Interiors Limited. I have generated marketing processes that have led to annual sales in excess of 1 million pounds in past businesses and am currently on target to achieve these figures in the new business ventures (both having started in the midst of the down turn) I love Nikes "Just do it" tag". I have gained experience in lecturing through works I did with IPT in South Africa, IPT was involved in the political change and I assisted in the conflict negotiation handling workshops.
I prefer to live by Socrates "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing"... I guess the meaning of this has a long debate attached, for me it has a particular meaning that helps me stay focused."
The Business of Photography - Mark Pearson
What is the point in being an award winning photographer if you can't sell your images? How much should I charge? Why is "Shoot For Show" as important as "Shoot For Dough?".
Following on from his very popular business 1-2-1's, which have been attended by many aspiring and full time professional photographers, and his retirement from the portrait side of his business at the beginning of February 2010, Mark Pearson will hold an informal workshop discussion on how you can improve your business.
During this workshop he will show you the importance of the business side of your photography and how without a solid business foundation, many aspiring photographers can face a hard climb to success. This workshop is an informal discussion on the route Mark has taken over the years to market his business, the things that have worked and failed for him, his dedication to customer service, ideas on improving how you deal with clients, how to stand head and shoulders above your competitors by providing a second to none customer experience and how you bring it all together to maximise your bookings.
Mark will also touch on SEO and it's importance in the global economy, why it is so important that your website features on Page 1 of the search engines especially Google and a few tips on how you can achieve this. This workshop is a sharing of ideas and all attendees are invited to join in. This session will be co-presented by Paul Brown.
